Consumer Action advances consumer rights, nation-wide, by referring complaints, publishing educational materials in multiple languages, advocating for consumers in the media and before lawmakers, and comparing prices on credit cards, bank accounts and long distance services.

    Consumer Action is a national non-profit 501(c)(3) advocacy and education organization that has served consumers since 1971. Consumer Action has a national reputation for multilingual consumer education and advocacy in the fields of credit, banking, privacy, insurance and utilities.

    Promoting pro-consumer policy, regulations and legislation and helping consumers be heard by those in power is an important part of Consumer Action’s work. We accomplish our goals through networking, coalition building, lobbying and media outreach.

    Consumer Action is an active member of many coalitions of like-minded organizations working to promote social change.

  • Community Outreach—AAPI Populations

    Consumer Action serves the Asian-American Pacific Islander (AAPI) communities with multilingual publications, financial literacy programs, stipend grants, in-language media outreach, a consumer hotline and a multilingual website.

These publications, covering a wide range of personal finance and other consumer topics, provide unbiased, actionable, reader-friendly guidance to help limited-English-speaking consumers understand their rights, protect their privacy, and make wise choices in the marketplace.
